Lectionary Sundays for Advent and Christmas, 3 to 31 December 2023 - 'Longing for God's Redeeming Presence'
Advent is the season of preparation for Christmas.
The chief themes of Advent are divine judgment and the coming of God’s kingdom on one hand, and human repentance and obedience on the other. it is important that we grasp the significance of this ancient event so that advent becomes for us a season of joy filled-anticipatory celebration of the arrival of Jesus, and a preparatory period of repentance, meditation and penance.
Most importantly, it is a season of celebrating God’s redeeming presence in the world.
