You are invited to join any or all of the Holy Week services at Trinity Methodist Church, on the days that work for you, as we journey with Jesus to the cross. We are open to all.

Our theme for Holy Week 2026, ‘The Crucified God’, will prepare us for the Lenten journey, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and beyond.

The Holy Week sermons form part of a longer Lent, Holy Week, and Easter series, and explores the powerful theology of Jürgen Moltmann and his book The Crucified God. Rather than portraying God as distant from suffering, Moltmann points us to a God who enters fully into the pain and brokenness of the world.

In the crucified Christ we encounter a God whose power is revealed through self-giving love and deep solidarity with those who suffer. The resurrection, in turn, offers more than a memory of the past – it gives us a glimpse of God’s promised future breaking into the present with hope.

For communities facing hardship and injustice, this vision reminds us that God stands with the wounded, and calls us to live with honest lament, courageous hope, and a commitment to renewal.
