What Jesus Did and Achieved
What Jesus Did and Achieved
27 April to 15 June 2025
The Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ not only brought about victory over death, Satan, and sin, but also marked the beginning of a new resurrected life to be lived fully here on earth and continued and glorified in eternal life.
We must appreciate that between Jesus’ resurrection and his ascension, Jesus didn’t disappear from his people, he was seen by many. Although Jesus knew he would go back to his father, he didn’t just forget about those who had been given to him, but the resurrected Jesus made himself seen and known. Both male and female disciples experienced Jesus’ resurrection power, they all receive a special resurrection message and comfort.
This should motivate believers to avoid being inactive or unproductive, to not spend time doing nothing when you could be engaged in something useful or productive work.
There is life that believers should live between the promise and its fulfilment. Jesus used time between his resurrection and ascension to touch lives and to prepare them for life without him. He spent it assuring his disciples that he was Jesus, not a ghost, and what in essence he has achieved for them. It’s nothing new for the world not to believe in the resurrection of Jesus, but for us the resurrection is the event we have spent our lives preparing for.
But here’s a thing, we focus so much on one resurrection that we overlook the fact that the Bible refers to three resurrections, not only one. Let us therefore be convinced of all 3 resurrections:
- The resurrection of Jesus as a signal that death was not final and that he is the true Son of God and Savior of our souls.
- The resurrection of the believers now made possible by Jesus’ resurrection, which we anticipate each time we meet for communion.
- The resurrection of creation which God will accomplish
These 3 resurrections help us face the world with the mixture of confidence and compassion. They help us remain hopeful faithful.
